A grant to complete a veterinary externship is now available to qualifying bovine veterinary students, according to the Academy of Veterinary Consultants (AVC). The professional organization is focused on veterinarians serving the North American beef industry.

“In order to meet one of the objectives of the AVC-Foundation, to recruit and retain the next generation of beef cattle practitioners and consultants, we are pleased to request applications for the AVC-F Externship Grant Program,” note Dr. Dale Grotelueschen, Chair, Academy of the Veterinary Consultants Foundation, and Dr. Bob Larson, Executive Director of AVC.

Applicants are instructed to go to the  AVC Foundation.org website for application instructions and application materials.

Currently enrolled veterinary students, regardless of their year of study, may apply for $500 grants to complete an externship with a member of the AVC. Applications and all supporting documents must be submitted through the online form by January 31, 2023.

It is the responsibility of applicants to have the completed application and supporting materials (including recommendation letters) by this date. Any question can be directed to the AVC Administrative Manager, Sally O’Brien at sobrien@avc-beef.org

Applicants will be notified of receipt of materials and also the selection of recipient by March 1, 2023.
