The Dairy Calf and Heifer Association (DCHA) announced that it will offer two $1,500 scholarships. Applicants must be a college student and DCHA member, or the parent/legal guardian must belong to DCHA. Applications are due Feb. 15. An individual may only receive a DCHA scholarship once.
To apply for the scholarship, applicants must:
• Complete at least one year of post high school education
• Be an enrolled student in good standing at an accredited college or university
• Be enrolled in a field of agriculture (e.g., dairy science, animal science, veterinary science, agricultural technical program, ag communications) or in a course of study with relevance to agriculture (preference is given to dairy calf/heifer-related fields of study)
• Be a DCHA member or the son, daughter or legal dependent of a DCHA member

Through this program, DCHA invests in the dairy industry’s future by offering financial support to students pursuing careers in agriculture.
“The DCHA board of directors believes in promoting higher education and skill development, and thus invests in youth interested in dairy industry careers,” said DCHA President Kendall Wassenaar, Orange City, Iowa. “We recognize that financial barriers may prevent agricultural students from pursuing a college degree. By offering these $1,500 scholarships, DCHA supports and mentors students who might later become successful producers, veterinarians, managers and consultants.”
The DCHA scholarship program is open to undergraduate and graduate students, including students pursuing a veterinary medicine degree. DCHA leaders encourage students attending a two-year program and pursuing a technical/associate degree to apply for a DCHA scholarship.
