Kentucky-based feed and food additive company Alltech has acquired a majority interest in Agolin, a Swiss company specializing in sustainable animal nutrition.

“Alltech is dedicated to supporting farmers and ranchers with holistic sustainability: producing more nutritious milk, meat, and eggs at reduced environmental impact while ensuring the profitability of their business,” the company conveyed in a statement issued about the acquisition.

Founded in 2006, Agolin has developed and produced plant-based animal nutrition products utilizing high-quality essential oil blends. In 2018, one of their foundational products, Agolin® Ruminant, became the first feed additive certified by The Carbon Trust for methane reduction in ruminants.

“Agolin’s essential oil blends complement Alltech’s nutritional technologies, and we believe that even greater benefits to producers can be achieved through the synergistic use of our technologies,” Alltech stated. “These benefits include improved animal welfare, greater feed efficiency and conversion, more milk and meat, increased profitability, and reduced environmental footprint.”
