Mentor of the Year: Dr. Sheila McGuirk

Since joining the University of Wisconsin Veterinary Medicine faculty in 1983, Sheila McGuirk, DVM, PhD, has built international acclaim as a teacher, researcher and mentor to other veterinarians, and a leading authority on dairy internal medicine.

During the recent American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP) conference, Merck Animal Health and AABP honored Dr. McGuirk with the 2018 Merck Mentor of the Year Award.

McGuirk, earned her DVM degree from the University of Georgia and MS and PhD degrees from the Ohio State University.  The Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association (WVMA) twice named McGuirk WVMA Veterinarian of the Year. She is the only two-time recipient of that award.
