Concurrent Use of Two Dewormer Classes Manages Resistance

In this exclusive video, livestock consultant and former USDA-ARS researcher Dr. Louis Gasbarre explains why managing parasite resistance includes using multiple classes of dewormers at the same time.

Parasite resistance continues to worsen. Dr. Gasbarre has witnessed more and multiple parasites emerging in cattle every year. To combat this trend, he recommends using drugs with different targets to reduce surviving parasites.

Gasbarre also discusses the role of refugia in managing resistance and applying selective treatment to different classes of cattle instead of treating all animals on the farm the same.
