Geof Smith, DVM, PhD, Dipl. ACVIM, North Carolina State University, details the most accurate methods for assessment of dehydration in calves are eyeball recession into the orbit and skin tent duration in the neck region, and that all other methods of assessment are inferior to these two methods (see "Saving winter calves").

Within the alogaritmo presented for fluid therapy in dehydrated animals with diarrhea your recommendation is an isotonic solution of sodium bicarbonate (13 g / l) whit suckle reflex absent and calf not standing, this solution could be enough? also might think that the solution hypertonic is sodium bicarbonate or is some other solution? great information, Thanks
