Registration is open for the 2013 Range Beef Cow Symposium, which will take place at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City, S.D. on December 3 to 5. A bi-annual event that moves between four states, the symposium is one of the premier educational opportunities for cow-calf producers.

South Dakota State University (SDSU) hosts this year’s event, which is a joint effort of the Extension services from SDSU, Colorado State University, University of Wyoming and University of Nebraska.

This year’s agenda covers a wide range of topics including beef industry issues, genetics, reproduction, range and forage management, cattle health, and beef nutrition. Cost for the two and a half days of educational sessions is $90 per person with early registration. After November 15, the price goes up to $125. Discounts are available for spouses or employees of registrants, students or for single-day registrations.

Registration includes lunches, and dinners are available for an extra cost. Evening “Bull Pen” sessions, a long standing tradition at the symposium, offer registrants an opportunity for questions and in-depth discussions with speakers. Participants often comment these sessions are the most valuable time spent at the event.

The symposium also includes a commercial trade show featuring displays from leading suppliers of livestock products and services.

Online registration is available through SDSU’s iGrow website.
