AVC grants and Armstrong Scholarship

AVC logo Attention veterinary students! There is still time to apply for Academy of Veterinary Consultants externship grants as well as the Dr. Douglas A. Armstrong Scholarship, but you must act fast — the deadline is Jan. 31.

Dr. Douglas A. Armstrong Scholarship

The Douglas A. Armstrong Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually for excellence in beef cattle clinical research. The scholarship amount is $2,500 and is awarded to the recipient at his/her school’s annual awards ceremony.

The recipient is expected to make a short presentation summarizing his/her research project at a meeting of the Academy of Veterinary Consultants. Transportation and related expenses incurred in attending the meeting will be reimbursed by the Academy of Veterinary Consultants.

AVC externship grants

The AVC has available a grant program to financially assist veterinary students working in an externship or preceptorship program or summer employment.

These grants are in the amount of $500 per student. The funds can be used as the student needs to help offset the expenses encountered during an externship (i.e. fuel, meals, lodging, etc.).
