Animal scientist Joseph Stookey, from the University of Saskatchewan, demonstrates a simple, low-stress method for sorting calves away from their dams. The method takes advantage of calves' tendency to be somewhat more wary of people than cows, allowing the handler to direct them to their own pen as the pairs walk by.
