Holiday video features Michigan dairy families singing the 12 Days of Christmas with dairy products
A new video produced by the Michigan Dairy News Bureau drives viewers to the MilkisLocal.com to reconnect with the local dairy producers producing milk, cheese, and yogurt for the holidays. “Michigan Dairy Farm Families: The 12 Days of Christmas” features local farm families singing about the variety of dairy products the public uses everyday.
The video opens with a young mom cooking in the kitchen singing “On the 12th day of Christmas a dairy farmer gave to me …” with a different Michigan dairy farm family singing each verse, from “12 artisan cheeses” to “Two cherry yogurts.” Sparty, the Michigan State University mascot, directs a choir of the college’s dairy club caroling for, “Strong bones and teeth!” Scott Ferry, a Michigan dairy producer from Litchfield, Mich., ends the song singing that all the dairy products are, “From legendary farm families.”
The United Dairy Industry of Michigan (UDIM) promotion team shot the video over a weekend, covering hundreds of miles driving from farm to farm to capture families singing their hearts out to promote dairy for the holidays. Audio from the video is part of a radio buy running throughout the state. The video is being promoted on social media channels including YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, and the MilkisLocal website.
“It’s a bit cheesy (pun intended), but it brings a smile to everyone’s face,” says Jim Reid, dairy producer chairman of UDIM. “One of our goals is to connect dairy farmers’ faces with our products. By showing our dairy farm families singing about their products we’ve demonstrated the pride we have in producing high quality milk.”
Reid added that after having his or her moment of fame, everyone in the video is planning to keep their day job.
