Have you been out of veterinary school less than 10 years and in a beef or dairy practice? Do you wish you could have the opportunity for continuing education of your choice to enhance your skills?

Then apply for the Dr. Bruce Wren Continuing Education Award sponsored by AgriLabs and awarded at the 2012 American Association of Bovine Practitioners meeting.

Two $5,000 individual awards (one for beef, one for dairy) will be given in honor of Bruce Wren, DVM, PhD. The recipients of this award, in cooperation with the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, will benefit from Wren’s commitment to both practical and formal continuing education in the training of first-rate veterinarians.

Candidates will design their own award through an application process and judging criteria based on:

  • A professional-development plan, describing the skills/knowledge candidates would like to improve upon to become a more valuable resource for their producer-clients and how they would use the grant for this improvement.
  • Letters of reference from three individuals (including at least one producer and one veterinarian) who have first-hand knowledge of the applicant’s practice experience and educational interest.
  • Candidates must be out of veterinary school for a minimum of one year and a maximum of ten years to be eligible.

The selection process and the administration of each of these two $5,000 grants, one to a beef practitioner, the other to a dairy practitioner, will be headed by an AABP selection committee.

Jim Glassford, AgriLabs Vice President of Marketing, will present the awards to the recipients at the 45th Annual Conference of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners Sept. 20-22 in Montreal. AgriLabs will host the winners for this conference.

A completed online application form (beef or dairy) and three letters of support must be submitted before July 15 to be considered.
