MOREWVC Food Animal Incentive Award Winners

At the 2012 Western Veterinary Conference in Las Vegas yesterday, five recipients of the WVC Food Animal Incentive Awards were honored. This award is given annually to five veterinarians engaged in a university or private practice internship or residency (first year) in food animal medicine, surgery, production medicine, theriogenology, or epidemiology.

NMC takes a stand on tail docking

During the NMC Board of Directors meeting in September, the following position statement was adopted on the issue of tail docking in dairy cattle:
The National Mastitis Council (NMC) knows of no evidence that tail docking improves cow welfare, cow hygiene, or milk quality. NMC does not endorse the routine use of tail docking in dairy cattle.
