Texas Tech University will host a half-day symposium on beta agonists and animal welfare on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 at the Texas Tech Club. The event is sponsored in part by Elanco Animal Health and Merck Animal Health and the Laboratory of Animal Behavior, Physiology and Welfare at Texas Tech University.
Speakers will include:
- Dave Anderson, Consultant, Retired from Elanco, currently Affiliate Faculty, Animal Science, Colorado State University speaking on beta agonists use in commercial pig and pork production.
- Guy Loneragan, Professor Animal and Food Science, TTU, discussing evidence for beta agonists as an animal welfare concern.
- Ty Lawrence, West Texas A&M University, do beta-agonists impact animal well-being?
- Temple Grandin, Professor of Animal Science, Colorado State University, Observations in the field related to beta agonists and animal welfare.
The session will wrap up with a panel discussion followed by lunch, finishing at 1:30 pm.
