The House Committee on Energy and Commerce unanimously passed the Veterinary Medicine Mobility Act of 2013 (H.R. 1528) out of committee, which clears the way for the bill to be considered by the full House. Representatives Kurt Schrader (D-OR) and Ted Yoho (R-FL) introduced the bill to amend the Controlled Substances Act and permit licensed veterinarians to transport and dispense controlled substances at the treatment site rather than being restricted solely to the veterinarian’s principal place of business. The Senate passed a twin bill (S. 1171), sponsored by Sens. Angus King (I-ME) and Jerry Moran (R-KA).
