The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has launched a series of informative widgets, as a new benefit for its members. The widgets are free content for easy incorporation on clinic websites to help promote the practice. Some of the widgets initially offered are targeted to companion-animal practices, but some others apply to large-animal practitioners.

“AVMA has many members in clinical practice who are small to mid-sized business owners, says Dr. Douglas G. Aspros, president of the AVMA. “In fact, most of the Association’s leaders are business owners themselves, so we understand the challenge of offering website content that will be beneficial to our clients and help promote our practices. Keeping a practice website fresh with useful information and contemporary graphics is a task that many of us simply don’t have the time or staff to do properly,”

The widgets are a member-only benefit, easily placed on a website and free of charge. The number and type of widgets available at any given time will vary, as some will relate to annual observances such as National Dog Bite Prevention Week. The widgets are very simple to use: just follow the simple instructions to copy and paste it into your website in the location where you would like the widget to appear. Once done, the information and design services of the AVMA will appear on your website as seamlessly as if you’d produced the content in-house.

The list of widgets available to member websites will change throughout the year, and they’ll be promoted on the AVMA website homepage and on the AVMA blog. Widgets currently available to members are:

  • Veterinary Medicine Mobility Act – This infographic is designed to help clients understand why veterinarians need to use controlled substances beyond their places of business.
  • – This veterinary clinic locator widget can help clients find a veterinarian when they travel with their animals.
