Veterinary students attending the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP) conference in September enjoyed unique opportunities to learn, network, test their knowledge and develop leadership skills.

The conference attracted 372 students, representing over 25 universities across the country. Ten of those participated in the AABP case presentation competition. The 2013 Student Quiz Bowl featured 27 teams, with six schools sending two teams. The Texas A&M University team won the competition.

Also, 53 students participated in the student delegate program, which recognizes veterinary student leaders throughout North America. This three-year program, which begins in a student’s junior year and continues through his or her first year out of veterinary school, provides crucial early exposure to leadership and service opportunities within AABP.

At the AABP trade show, several groups of students took the opportunity to have their pictures on the cover of Bovine Veterinarian magazine.
